For her new project, the British singer marked the occasion by calling on Hiro Murai, Japanese-American director behind the powerful music video for “This is America” by Childish Gambino, which won her the Grammy award for best music video. in 2018.
Directed by Hiro Murai as a short film, FKA Twig pays a beautiful tribute to Asian martial arts films and illustrates the breakup with a very original metaphor
In “Sad Day”, Hiro Murai and FKA Twigs set a scene first dark, then fantasy and surreal. Through a samurai fight with dancer Teake in the streets of London, the singer shows off her martial arts skills and graceful mastery of the sword.

Coupled with the ballads “Sad Day” and “Mirrored Heart” as well as the artist’s haunting voice, the result is a poetic mini-film about love and obsession.
