Up-and-coming Memphis rapper BlocBoy JB turned a few heads with his eccentric top of the year banger “Rover.” Thanks to the song’s now-viral dance craze known as the “shoot dance”, JB has also captured the attention of Drake — and now he’s the 6 God’s latest collaborator.
The pair teamed up to release the booming, piano-driven “Look Alive” late Thursday night (Feb. 8). The Tay-Keith produced tune is carried by a haunting piano melody, rattling hi-hats, and a thunderous kick drum.
Drake kicks off the record, flowing seamlessly, almost without taking a breath. “I’m not to blame man, this f**kin industry is cutthroat / I’m not the same man / and I can let you check the tag now, I’m rockin’ name brand,” raps the OVO leading man.
The visual sees Drake and JB with a team of people, ganged up in a basketball gym as Drake attempts to hit BlocBoy’s signature dance yet again while rocking his signature OVO and Jumpman collab jumpsuit. BlocBoy JB hinted at an OVO collab earlier in the year, uploading a photo of the OVO Owl logo rocking a purple bandana.
