M.I.A’s new documentary is now to be seen online, as well as her video for the unreleased track RELOAD.
The long-awaited documentary Matangi/Maya/M.I.A. directed by Steve Loveridge presented at this year’s Sundance Film Festival and finally in movie theaters in September, is now available on Amazon, iTunes, other streaming services and for rent. The film, is a compilation of M.I.A.’s personal footage over the years covering her Sri Lankan childhood and controversial career. This autobiography is an eye-opener to those who thought Maya is active only in the music world.
M.I.A. has also shared a new video for “Reload”, a track from 14 years ago that appears on the soundtrack to the documentary. The song was written with Justine Frischmann before the release of M.I.A.’s 2005 debut Arular. They made the video together in Justine’s basement in 2004.
