Nasir is his eleventh album in his career. The production from 2018 contained seven pieces, which were produced by Kanye West. Among them "Cops shot the kid". Samples from "Children's Story" by Slick Rick were used in the production for the main theme of the song which is the brutality of the American police in relation to the black community.
